Meet your microbes

Lacy the Lactobacillus is a legend at absorbing nutrients, helping to break down food and fight off bad organisms that might cause you harm.

Say hello to Biff the Bifidobacterium! One big job for Biff is to eat fibre that we can’t break down on our own.

Bax the Bacteroide protects you from pathogens (That’s Bad bacteria and viruses) and supplies good food to the other team members in our gut.

Introducing Roz the Roseburia! Roz is great at kicking bad bacteria booty. Destroying the harmful bacteria boosts our immune sysem and helps reduce inflammation.

Meet Pat the Prevotella! Pat is a PRO at breaking down carbohydrates. This helps our body process nutrients and store sugar.

Obi the Rhizobia isn’t actually found in our gut, but Obi helps the vegetable foods grow, which are super important to our teammates.

Welcome to the Kidzone!

Get ready to explore the incredible ecosystem of the gut, where trillions of microbes work hard to keep you healthy.

We desperately need a generational shift in gut health here in NZ. The gut microbiome, which forms in the first three years of life, is crucial to long-term health. That’s why teaching kids about gut health is more important than ever. As parents and educators, we need to lay the foundations for lifelong wellbeing early on.

From exploring the fascinating world of microbes to understanding how digestion works, Kidzone helps kids grasp why a healthy gut is vital to their overall health. Empower the next generation of kiwis with the knowledge they need to grow strong and make healthy choices.

Tiny Tummies, Big Impact: Inspiring Gut Health Awareness in Preschoolers

“Thank you for the wonderful presentation you gave to our preschoolers at Casa dei Bambini on Monday 26th August. The children were fascinated in the information shared, engaged in the presentation and enjoyed the discovery of our gut buddies. We followed on from your visit with further discussions while we made the carrot muffin recipe. The tamariki took part in preparing the ingredients, mixing and spooning and subsequently eating the muffins, to great enjoyment. The kefir you provided was also met with enthusiasm, with every single child willingly trying it and seeking seconds. Later in the day the older children could not stop chatting about gut buddies, asking if they could draw some. Their pictures indicated an understanding of their new knowledge. Feedback from parents has been very positive. Many children went home and shared accurate information about gut health. One four year old greeted his mum yesterday with, ”hi mum, do you want to hear what I learned about today?” It was not only the children who learned new things. Alice, I appreciated your conversation about targeting the conversation away from good and bad food and directing education to feeding our gut buddies who will in turn help us. Thank you again for the experience.”
